FAQ

What are the advantages of pepper spray?

Pepper spray is an effective and non-lethal self-defense tool. Some of the advantages of pepper spray include:

    1. Non-lethal or less than lethal: Unlike firearms, pepper spray is a non-lethal weapon that is designed to incapacitate an attacker without causing serious injury or death.
    2. Portable and easy to use: Pepper spray is small and lightweight, making it easy to carry in a purse or pocket. It is also very simple to use, requiring only a quick spray in the direction of the attacker.
    3. Effective against multiple attackers: Pepper spray can be used to defend against multiple attackers at once if it is a FOG/CONE spray, making it a useful tool for individuals who may be confronted by groups of people.
    4. Inexpensive: Pepper spray is generally much less expensive other self-defense tools, making it an affordable option for individuals.

Overall, it is a safe, portable, and affordable option for individuals who need to protect themselves in dangerous situations.

How to use an ADMIRAL pepper spray?

You're carrying an ADMIRAL pepper spray for self-defense purposes. Here are some general guidelines for using your pepper spray effectively:

Before carrying the spray, familiarize yourself with the product. We recommend training with the ADMIRAL IN100 training made with an inert solution.

    1. Grip the spray firmly and vertically, hold out your arm, aim, push the actuator and spray the canister.
    2. Aim for the attacker's face: When using the spray, aim for the attacker's face, specifically the eyes, nose, and mouth. This will help to incapacitate the attacker and give you time to escape.
    3. Use in short bursts: When spraying, use short, controlled bursts rather than a continuous stream. This will help you conserve the spray and increase your chances of hitting the attacker's face.
    4. Stay calm and be prepared to run away.
    5. Call for help: After using the spray, call for help and report the incident to the authorities.

It's important to remember that pepper spray is a self-defense tool and should only be used in situations where you feel threatened or in danger.

What to do if you are sprayed by a pepper spray?

CS tear gas and Oleoresin capsicum (OC) are both irritants used for self-defense and riot control, but they differ in the effects on the human body. CS tear gas works by irritating the mucous membranes, while OC works by causing a sensation of intense burning and pain, which can incapacitate an attacker, giving the victim time to escape or seek help.

What is PAVA, the synthetic capsaicin?

The synthetic capsaicin, also known as Nonivamide or Pelargonic Acid Vanillylamide (PAVA), is a synthetic pepper derived from natural capsaicins. The synthetic capsaicin is often used as an irritant. It works by activating pain receptors in the body, causing an intense burning sensation and temporary blindness. It does not affect the respiratory system, although may induce a coughing reflex. PAVA synthetic capsaicin is typically used in combination or in replacement with Oleoresin Capsicum in pepper spray. Its effects can last up to 30 minutes.

What is CS Tear gas?

CS tear gas, also known as chlorobenzylidene malononitrile, is a chemical compound that is used as a riot control agent. It is a white crystalline powder that is dispersed in the air as a fine mist or powder. CS tear gas works by irritating the mucous membranes. CS Tear gas causes severe irritation to the eyes, nose, and respiratory system, leading to coughing, sneezing, and a burning sensation, partially incapacitating the subject. It is used by law enforcement agencies for crowd control and for individual self-defense. It tends to be replaced by OC pepper spray which is naturally sourced.

What is Oleoresin Capsicum?

Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) is a natural extract from hot chili peppers that contains capsaicin, which causes a burning sensation and severe pain when it comes into contact with the skin, eyes, or mucous membranes. It is used in crowd-control and self-defense, including defense against dogs and bears. It does not affect the respiratory system, although may induce a coughing reflex because it causes temporary discomfort of the lungs. The strength of OC spray is measured in Scoville Heat Units (SHU), which is the same measurement used to determine the spiciness of chili peppers. OC spray typically ranges from 500.000 to 2.000.000 SHU, which is much stronger than the average jalapeño pepper, which typically ranges from 2.500 to 8.000 SHU. The advantage of pepper aerosols is that they effectively have an action on a sober person and in a state of alcoholic or narcotic intoxication, as well as an aggressive dog. It has an orange or red color.

What is the difference between FOG CONE spray and GEL spray?

Fog/cone pepper spray is delivered in a mist or cloud-like pattern, which can quickly disperse and cover a large area, making it effective against multiple attackers. The mist can also affect bystanders or individuals nearby, which can be a disadvantage in crowded areas. The advantage is that you don’t need to aim precisely.

Gel pepper spray, on the other hand, is delivered in a sticky, gel-like substance that sticks to the attacker's skin, clothes, and eyes. It has a longer range than fog/cone pepper spray and is less likely to blow back onto the user or bystanders. Gel pepper spray also reduces the risk of cross-contamination in crowded areas and inside buildings.

What is Major Capsaicinoids?

Major capsaicinoids are a group of chemical compounds found in chili peppers, which are responsible for the pungent sensation that pepper produce. They are named after capsaicin, the most abundant and well-known capsaicinoid.

There are several major capsaicinoids, including capsaicin, dihydrocapsaicin, nordihydrocapsaicin, homodihydrocapsaicin, nonivamide and homocapsaicin. Capsaicin is the most potent of these compounds.

These capsaicinoids work by binding to a protein in the body known as the TRPV1 receptor, which is responsible for detecting heat and pain. When the capsaicinoids bind to this receptor, they produce a sensation of heat and pain, which can cause sweating, flushing, and a burning sensation.

Capsaicinoids are used in a variety of products, including pepper sprays, topical pain relief creams, and dietary supplements. They are also used in scientific research to study pain perception and to develop new pain-relieving medications.

Can I use a pepper spray in France?

The European Union does not regulate pepper spray, leaving member countries free to regulate it themselves. In France, it is legal for anyone over the age of 18 to buy pepper spray in an armory or military surplus store. It is classified as a Category D weapon in French law. Even if it is a category D weapon, you must be able to justify its presence in case of control. You can use your self-defense pepper spray to respond to an attack or a danger, which means that someone actually has to try to assault you or steal something from you before you can use the pepper spray.
